Sea Day Number Two

Today was a Lounge About Day:

That said, there was a little drama when David woke up early and went for a spa treatment. He was under the impression that we were going to meet him at the Spa, but we actually were on schedule to pick up our passports. It was a kind of important thing, but thanks to the communications technology on-board, we found each other in time!

It was also a Good Day to Meet Friends!

The Disney Princesses and characters were out in force. We were originally scheduled to meet Anna and Elsa today, but their schedule was changed. It seems that their basses needed them to do an extra show on the day they were performing, so the meet and greets were shuffled about. We will meet them on the last sea day.

I was OK with it, Ian took me to the Edge where we hung out while the rest of them took pictures with some princesses at a “Meet and Greet.”

Robin and David went to a presentation about innovations that Walt Disney introduced Disney Land. It was really impressive to find out how so many people copied him, or at least that’s what it sounded like when we all met back up. It must have been very interesting, because they didn’t take any notes at all! They discussed the fact that the park was created from the perspective of film-makers and story tellers. The goal was more than just a play place, but an immersive experience and being part of a story. Ideas like having a single entrance with “Forced Perspective” made you part of the story. He came up with the spoke design which is now used all over. There was a nod to the Tivoli Gardens, which is in Copenhagen and related to the hotel we stayed at, but contrary to what the tour bus “Audio” in Copenhagen told us, Walt’s vision was much more than an amusement park; it was about bringing a family into a story experience.

Robin had her Spa treatment, I was given the responsibility of holding our favorite table for the Bingo Game, yes we were addicted to Bingo..

Late Night Family Fun!

Cinderella Twice CharmedThe show was a musical adaptation of Cinderella III, one of Disney’s Animated Sequel Feature. We enjoyed it, but it wasn’t as much fun as the Karaoke afterwards…

Meredith and Katelin Singing
Meredith and Katelin Singing “A Spoonful of Sugar.”

In D-Lounge, Meredith and Katelin took center stage and sang us a song from Mary Poppins. We all enjoyed the show and at one point everybody stood up and started dancing to the Y.M.C.A. Song!

It was another late night, but we all eventually made it back to our rooms to get some well needed sleep.
